Disney's 'High School Musical' Is HIU's Spring Musical

Posted: February 1, 2013

Hope International University's Music Department is excited to announce their upcoming production of Disney's High School Musical.

'High School Musical is fun and entertaining for all ages and carries a strong message for young people about the freedom to be themselves and the meaning of true friendship,' said Director Ember Williams.

Based on the Disney Channel's smash hit, High School Musical follows Troy, Gabriella, and the students of East High as they battle peer pressure, experience love, and learn acceptance. While on vacation during winter break, popular basketball team captain, Troy, ends up singing karaoke with a mystery girl. When he returns to school, he finds his singing partner is the new girl on campus, shy Gabriella. The two are stuck into different cliques, Troy with the jocks and Gabriella with the science club, but their shared passion for singing continues to bring them closer together. Their friends and all of East High are shocked when Troy and Gabriella sign up to audition for the school musical. Will their love for music and each other be enough to conquer the social pressures of East High?

Filled with plenty of upbeat songs, including chart toppers 'We're All In This Together' and 'The Start of Something New,' High School Musical is a great show for the whole family. This high energy musical features music adapted, arranged, and produced by Bryan Louiselle and is based on the original movie written by Peter Barsocchini.
