Posted: June 17, 2021

Meet Kylee Olaivar, President of HIU’s Student Government Association (SGA), who transferred to HIU from Hawaii in the Fall of 2019. Kylee’s immediate bond with the HIU community during an overnight campus visit led her to become a Royal. She is studying Intercultural Studies with a concentration in Youth and Family in Ministry. Kylee also works in the Admissions Department and loves sharing her experience with prospective students.

During her first year on campus, Kylee quickly got involved in student life and was elected the SGA President. Upon the suspension of all on-campus student activities due to COVID-19, Kylee and her SGA officers quickly pivoted to hosting virtual events in order to maintain some sense of community in very unfamiliar times. Most recently, under Kylee’s leadership, the SGA team organized a “Senior Drive Thru Appreciation” event to honor graduating class of 2020-21.

When asked how her upcoming senior year, Kylee responded, “I am looking forward to reconnecting with my friends, meeting new people, and continuing my role as SGA President. I am excited to make new memories and grateful for the time I will have with my HIU community.”

Upon graduation, Kylee plans to take some time to travel, spend time with her family in Hawaii, and utilize her HIU degree to impact the world for Christ.
