MFT Department Sponsors National Marriage Seminar

Hope International University is a proud sponsor of National Marriage Seminars" The Gottman Tour with Drs. John and Julie Gottman. In addition to sponsoring the Gottman Level 1 Training seminar July 16-17 in San Diego, CA, HIU will also have a booth at the event for its Marriage and Family Therapy program.

"Drs. John and Julia Gottman are best known for their world-leading research in couples therapy, and will be presenting the seminar themselves," Emily Thorton, HIU's Director of Continuing Education, said. "Considering their reputation in the field and their sought after training, this seminar is a wonderful opportunity for HIU to promote our MFT Program, as well as our many other degree opportunities."

Gottman Level 1 Training is a two-day, research-based workshop designed for clinicians.  The seminar presents tools and techniques for mental health professionals to use when working with couples. Completion of Gottman Level 1 Training makes participants eligible for Levels 2 and 3 as well as to become a Gottman Certified Therapist and a member of the Gottman Referral Network.

National Marriage Seminars provides help in the form of workshops, retreats, and training for marriages and families. The organization"s goal is to make resources available for couple to "restore their relationships, strengthen their bonds and have hope for a new beginning." In addition, National Marriage Seminars provides training and other learning opportunities for mental health professionals.

Dr. John Gottman is known worldwide for his breakthrough research on marriage and relationships. He is the author of the best-selling book, The Seven Principles of Making Marriages Work. Dr. Julie Gottman is an internationally sought after clinical psychologist renowned for her expertise in marriage, parenting, domestic violence, and sexual harassment. She is the co-creator of the popular Art and Science of Love weekend workshops.
