EDU2300 Child, Family, and Community (3)



This course is designed to prepare future educators for their role as part-ners with families in the education of their children. Students will understand the importance of learning the complex characteristics of children's families and communities. They will learn strategies to create respectful, reciprocal relationships that support and empower families, and to involve all families in their children's development and learning through parent education and involvement activities in the school and community. Students will review research on the correlation between family involvement and school achievement and the effectiveness of current national and school-level par-ent education and involvement programs.
